Dynamic pricing, with a floor it can't cross.
Dynamic pricing means your prices adjust automatically in response to market conditions, in PriceSentry's case, competitor prices you're tracking, instead of staying static until someone manually reviews them. The part most tools treat as optional, PriceSentry treats as the whole point: every pricing rule enforces a margin floor, so automation can move fast without ever being allowed to sell at a loss.
Register your interestFive rule types, one guardrail
Beat the lowest tracked competitor by a percent or a fixed amount, match the lowest price exactly, hold a target market position, or enforce a MAP floor with alerts instead of automation. Whichever type, the margin floor you set is checked against every computed price before anything happens.
Auto-apply or suggest-only, per rule
Auto-apply rules update your price the moment a new computation clears the margin floor. Suggest-only rules compute the same recommendation but leave your price untouched, queuing it for approval instead. Same rule logic, different amount of trust required before it acts unattended.
AND/OR targeting, not one rule per product
A rule targets a set of products via grouped conditions on brand, tag, or any custom attribute. Conditions within a group are AND'd, groups are OR'd together. "Brand X AND tagged clearance, OR brand Y entirely" is one rule, not a maintenance burden that grows with every product.
Smart price: always current, whether or not it's applied
Every product carries a live "smart price" (what the matching rule currently computes), refreshed on every evaluation regardless of approval mode. You always know the gap between what you're charging and what the rule recommends, even under suggest-only.
A full record of every change
Every price change, applied or still pending review, is recorded with the old price, the new price, which rule produced it, and whether the margin floor had to clamp the result. No silent repricing you have to reverse-engineer after the fact.
Know exactly which products a rule touches, before you save it.
Build the conditions and the matching products are counted and listed as you type. No saving a rule to find out what it caught.
Frequently asked questions
Can a dynamic pricing rule ever sell below my cost?
No. The margin floor is checked on every computed price, for every rule type, in both auto-apply and suggest-only mode. If a computation would breach it, the floor wins.
What is ‘position target’ pricing?
It aims your price just below the Nth-cheapest tracked competitor rather than always the single cheapest. Useful when you want to hold a specific market position (e.g. 3rd cheapest) rather than always racing to the bottom.
Can I test a rule before it changes real prices?
Yes. Set approval mode to suggest-only. The rule still computes and shows you exactly what it would do, routed to a review queue instead of applied automatically.
What's the difference between a rule's computed price and the margin floor?
The computed price is what the rule's logic (beat-lowest, match-lowest, etc.) works out before any guardrail. The margin floor is applied after. If the computed price would go below it, the floor price is used instead, and that's recorded as a flagged clamp, not silently.
