Connecting Magento

Magento connects via OAuth1, using credentials from a Magento Integration — a dedicated API identity, not your admin login.

1. Create an Integration in Magento

In your Magento admin: System → Extensions → Integrations → Add New Integration.

  • Give it a name (e.g. "Price Sentry").
  • Under API, scope it to only what's needed: Catalog resources (Magento_Catalog::catalog, catalog_inventory, products). Avoid granting broader access (orders, customers, etc.) than the integration actually uses.
  • Click Save, then Activate. Magento generates four credentials at this point: Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, Access Token, Access Token Secret.
This is a one-time display — copy all four credentials now. If you lose them, you'll need to deactivate/reactivate the integration to regenerate.

2. Add the connector here

Connectors → Add connector → Magento, and fill in:

Field Value
base_urlYour store's base URL (e.g. https://your-store.com)
consumer_keyFrom the Integration
consumer_secretFrom the Integration
access_tokenFrom the Integration
access_token_secretFrom the Integration

The connection is verified immediately on save (a real API call to list products) — you'll see Connected, or an error explaining what failed.

Signature method

Requests are signed with HMAC-SHA256 — required for current Magento versions (Magento 2.4.4+ rejects the older SHA1 method outright: "Signature method %1 is not supported"). This is handled automatically; nothing to configure on your end, but if you're troubleshooting via Magento's own OAuth logs, this is why SHA1 doesn't apply here.

What you can do once connected

  • Import your catalog — Magento has no native "tag" concept, so import filtering uses product attribute conditions only (custom attributes come through as custom_attributes and are matched by attribute code/value).
  • Export prices — push computed prices back to Magento on a schedule or via Run now.
  • Per-product push/pull — Push price / Pull latest on a connector-tracked product's page.

Matching between systems is by SKU — a product here needs a SKU that matches the Magento SKU for push/pull to find it.

How price changes reach Magento

Same rule as Shopify: an auto_apply pricing rule doesn't update the live sell price the instant it's computed — it's held until the next successful export push confirms the price actually reached Magento.

Audit log

The connector's Logs page shows every push/pull attempt: created / updated / skipped / failed, per SKU, with the underlying error message on failure.

Troubleshooting

  • "Signature method not supported" — you're on an older Integration setup expecting SHA1; this connector only ever signs with SHA256, so double-check the credentials were copied correctly, not regenerated since.
  • 401/403 on verify — the Integration's API scope doesn't include the Catalog resources listed in step 1, or the integration was deactivated.
  • A product doesn't sync — confirm the SKU matches exactly between this system and Magento; check the Logs page for the specific failure.
